Double chin surgery utilises the method of liposuction to reduce excess fat on the neck and jawline. This procedure involves the use of specialised tools to precisely suction out unwanted fat cells.
The benefits to neck and double chin liposuction may include:
Our doctor will help you set realistic expectations, answer your questions and discuss if double chin and neck liposuction is the right course of treatment for you at your surgical consultation.
At your initial consultation with one of our friendly and experienced practitioners, all your questions will be answered, and a thorough medical history and physical examination will take place. A treatment plan will be formulated based on your expectations and needs and the date for your surgery will be booked.
This procedure is a day surgery performed with a local anaesthetic and sedation.
Once the local anaesthetic is injected and your chin area is completely numb, a small incision is made under your chin. A thin, hollow tube called a catheter is inserted through this incision and the fat cells will be sucked out. This small incision is then sutured closed.
Recovery is relatively straightforward after your procedure.
You will have some bruising and swelling, but this will start to settle after approximately 5 days. You will wear a chin and neck compression garment to aid with the swelling and healing post-surgery. You can return to your normal activities and work 1-2 days after your procedure.
Our best tips to maintain the results from your surgery are:
The ideal candidates for double chin lipo are men and women who are unhappy with the size, shape and appearance of their chin and upper neck area. Other criteria for good candidates include:

Some of the most frequently asked questions regarding Double Chin Liposuction are answered below.
Yes, chin liposuction can be combined with other cosmetic procedures. It is always best to discuss options and expectations with your practitioner and they can tailor a specific package to you.
If you follow the recommendations of your practitioner then the results are long-lasting. Chin lipo removes fat cells from your chin and upper neck area permanently.
Our highly skilled practitioners strive to not leave any visible scars post this procedure. The incision site is tiny and placed in a less noticeable area of your chin so scarring will reduce and will fade over time.
We recommend you wait until the day after your procedure to have a shower, and then be mindful of your incision sites. Don’t scrub the sites and pat gently to dry with a soft towel.
A chin procedure does not include your cheeks. It targets your chin and upper neck.
You cannot drive home on the day of your surgery as you will have a sedative for your procedure and may be drowsy. You will need someone to drive you home.
You can eat your normal diet after the procedure, there are no restrictions. We do recommend you stick to a healthy and nutritious diet to maintain the results of your surgery.
You may notice results immediately after your surgery, however, it can take up to 2 to 4 weeks for the swelling and bruising to subside. After this period you will notice a big difference in the shape of your chin but it can take 3 months to see the full results.
We recommend you allow a minimum of 1 to 3 days recovery time before you resume exercising and return to your normal activities.
In the first 5 days after your procedure, we recommend you avoid alcohol to reduce the risk of excessive bruising, swelling and bleeding and negative interactions with any medication you may have.
