Living with breasts that are disproportionate to your body can affect you both physically and emotionally. We want to introduce you to a procedure that can help improve your appearance and quality of life. At My Cosmetic Clinic, with locations conveniently located throughout the New South Wales area, we offer breast reduction surgery, a procedure that can help reduce the size of the breasts and create the right proportions for your body.

What Age Is Best To Get a Breast Reduction?

When it comes to breast reduction surgery, age is not a significant factor in determining a patient’s candidacy. Patients of different ages schedule this procedure to help decrease the size of their breasts and make them more proportionate to the rest of their bodies to achieve a better aesthetic appearance and reduce discomfort.

If you have oversized breasts and aren’t happy with how they make you look and feel, you may be a candidate for this procedure. The best candidates for the surgery include:

  • Women with large, pendulous breasts
  • Women who are experiencing negative symptoms because of the size of their breasts
  • Women whose breasts are causing back pain or notched shoulders
  • Women with skin irritation in their breast fold due to oversized breasts
  • Women who have difficulty exercising or participating in sports-related activities
  • Women whose breasts draw unwanted attention and make them feel self-conscious about their bodies

Why a Breast Reduction?

Many women are born with disproportionately large breasts, while others develop large breasts after pregnancy and breastfeeding. Not only can oversized breasts affect a women’s appearance but also her confidence and self-image. Large breasts can also cause back and neck pain by forcing your posture into positions that are anything but ideal.

The result is often muscle and back pain chronic. This procedure can make a big difference not only in how you look but how you feel physically. Many women find that after this procedure, they can perform exercise or play sports with ease. This procedure truly can be life-changing for women who have lived with large breasts for their entire life.

What Is Breast Reduction Surgery?

Breast reduction surgery is also known as mammoplasty. This procedure aims to decrease breast size through the removal of excess tissue and skin. Dr. Ansari will use different techniques to create more proportionate breasts with an improved shape by removing excess skin, fat, and glandular tissue during the procedure.

How Does It Work?

This procedure will begin with the administration of general anesthesia. You will be asleep throughout the duration of the procedure, which will be performed at an accredited hospital in the Sydney area. During the procedure, Dr. Ansari will follow your specific treatment plan to help you get the best aesthetic results. He will remove excess tissue in your breasts to help you achieve your desired size and shape.

Removing Excess Skin, Fat, and Glandular Tissue

He may also remove excess skin, fat, and glandular tissue. Additionally, he can address your areolas by decreasing their size to make them proportional to your new breast size. Liposuction may be used during the procedure to remove any excess fat around the outer portion of your breasts to help you achieve the best outcome.

Once he addresses your concerns and creates the most proportional breasts for your body and frame, he will essentially perform a breast lift to lift the remaining skin and tissue higher on the chest wall and cover the treatment site with dressings.

What Is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a body contouring technique used in many different procedures to remove unwanted fat cells from a specific area of the body. Women who have large breasts that are disproportionate to their bodies often have a significant amount of fatty tissue in their breasts. During the procedure, liposuction is often used to remove that tissue using a thin tube called a cannula.

This cannula is attached to a suction device that gently suctions the fat cells from a tiny incision to permanently remove them from the body. During this procedure, liposuction can be used to remove excess fat cells from the breasts as well as the surrounding areas. Liposuction offers an effective way to help reduce the total amount of unwanted fat cells in different areas of the body and, in this case, the breasts.

How Long Does the Procedure Take?

A typical breast reduction can take anywhere from three to four hours to complete. The total operative time depends on the techniques and methods that Dr. Ansari will use during the procedure to help you achieve your best possible results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I Have a Scar?

Incisions will be made near the areola during this procedure, but any scarring will significantly fade over time. During your initial consultation, we will discuss the details of this procedure at length, including your incision location and how you can expect your breasts to look after your procedure is complete and your body has fully healed.

What Kind of Recovery Can I Expect?

Once your procedure is complete, you will begin your recovery period. Most patients can resume their normal daily activities within four weeks of their procedure. However, even after those four weeks have passed, you will still need to avoid anything that would strain your body, such as intense workouts or heavy lifting. You will be instructed to wear a compression bra 24 hours a day for at least three weeks after your procedure.

Once these three weeks have passed, you will still need to wear the bra but only for 12 hours a day for three to six more weeks. After your procedure, you will be prescribed certain medications to help keep you comfortable throughout your recovery and achieve the best possible outcome.

Can I Customize My Procedure?

This procedure can be completely customized to your aesthetic goals. During your consultation, we will discuss your expectations and your desired breast size and shape. We will review each step involved in the surgical procedure and listen to your concerns. You’ll have the space to ask any questions you may have about the procedure, your recovery, and your expected results.

How Long Does It Take To See Results?

Once you undergo this procedure, your results will be immediate. The total fat volume in your breasts will significantly decrease after your procedure is complete. Once your body has gone through the healing process, you will get a better idea of how your breasts will look permanently.

Can I Breastfeed Post-Op?

While some women can breastfeed after undergoing breast reduction surgery, it is not a guarantee. Different factors will affect your ability to breastfeed after a reduction, including how much breast tissue is removed during the procedure and whether the milk ducks have been damaged in any way during the procedure. Some women wait until they are done nursing to schedule this procedure if they are determined to breastfeed.

During your consultation, we will provide you with more details about breastfeeding after a reduction so that you can make an informed decision on whether you want to proceed or wait until your nursing days are over.

Are Results Permanent?

This procedure delivers permanent results. Once your breasts are surgically altered and the size is reduced, they will remain that way permanently. If you do gain weight, any remaining fat cells in the area may expand, which will make your breasts larger. If you do get pregnant, hormonal changes and other pregnancy-related factors may also temporarily increase your breasts’ size.

Can I Combine This Procedure With Other Procedures?

If you are interested in combining your breast reduction with other procedures, you can discuss your aesthetic goals with one of our practitioners during your initial consultation. Some women choose to add other procedures to their reduction to help address different concerns within the same procedure.
