As we age, many of us opt for an eyelid lift, also known as blepharoplasty. This treatment targets the eyelids and lifts them, so your eyes can appear clearer and more youthful. At My Cosmetic Clinic, serving Newcastle, Central Coast, Crow’s Nest, and Sydney, we believe in providing you with the best possible personalized care, exploring all of your options surrounding blepharoplasty, and making informed recommendations so that you can look and feel your best.

How Long Does This Treatment Last?

This treatment is one of the most long-lasting facial enhancements out there. On the low side, an eyelid lift can last you between five and seven years. Sometimes these treatments are good for as long as 15 years.

A lot of it has to do with your skin’s natural composition, how well you care for your eyes after the treatment, and how much you limit your exposure to the sun. Since it’s generally effective and minimally invasive, this treatment is popular for those who want to rediscover their youthful eyes.

Since everyone is different, make sure that you talk to our trusted team to see what you can realistically expect from your treatment.

How Is an Eyelid Lift Performed?

Our team uses a bladeless technique that is less invasive than standard blepharoplasties, and we can do either your upper eyelid or lower eyelid treatments in less than an hour. If you want both of them done at the same time, expect to spend between an hour and a half and two hours with our technicians.

You will arrive at our location thirty minutes before your scheduled appointment and be lightly sedated. More local anesthesia will be administered right before the treatment, so it’s usually virtually painless and very comfortable.

During the treatment, our technicians will remove and lift the skin, exposing more of your eye and removing any traces of hooding. The goal is to uplift the eyes, and you should be able to see a notable difference right after the treatment is completed.

Who Is a Good Candidate for This Treatment?

If you have eyelids that are a little on the droopy side, or if your eyes are looking hooded, you are a good candidate for this treatment. Since every case varies, we request that you talk to our team for a personalized consultation to learn exactly what you can expect. Our goal is to provide you with the best experience possible and ensure that each part of the treatment timeline is transparent.

Fringe Benefits of This Treatment

There are several fringe benefits to getting your eyelids done. In addition to generally looking better and younger, you may also experience an improvement in your vision. This happens when your eyelids are exceptionally droopy or heavy. Patients sometimes notice that their field of vision is broadened and that they enjoy clearer peripheral vision.

You could also see fewer forehead wrinkles after your treatment. Again, this goes back to droopy lids. When your eyelids are heavy, you tend to lift your brows more to see clearer. Lifting your brows repeatedly can cause those stubborn forehead furrows. Take the strain off your eyebrows, and your forehead could begin to smooth out a touch. Some people even say that their eyes appear brighter after this treatment as well.

Smoother Social Sailing

It’s been said that eyes are the windows to the soul, and they certainly influence how we interact with the world. When we communicate with people, we tend to look into their eyes for social clues. When your eyes are larger and more open, people have a better time reading your expressions and body language.

Hooded or deep eyes can also look less friendly or give the impression that you are not interested in interacting. This treatment can make you appear more approachable, social, and erase any of the tired-looking lines from your face. Since we tend to interact more favorably with people that we find friendly, this could improve your social life and give you an easier time navigating the world.

Migraine Relief

Although this is certainly not the case for everyone, some people find that they have fewer migraines after getting their eyelids done. This could possibly be due to the fact that a lot of nerves responsible for migraines are in the same region of the face that forehead wrinkles are. When you lift your brows to open your eyes larger, you could be interacting with those nerves and causing them to become slightly irritated and, in some people, triggering migraines.

There’s anecdotal evidence that suggests that those with wider, less hooded eyes experience fewer migraines. It’s an exciting fringe benefit that shows that a beauty treatment may affect your overall health in very interesting and positive ways. Of course, you should not undergo this treatment specifically as a migraine remedy, but it may help.
