The ever-evolving world of cosmetic treatments now gives us some fantastic procedures to rejuvenate our skin and maintain a youthful appearance. These procedures go beyond the surface, aiming for inner healing and regeneration to repair the skin from within. One such technique is Biostimulation. It involves stimulating the body’s natural biological processes, particularly collagen production, to improve the overall health and appearance of the skin. Biostimulator injections could be an excellent option if you want to restore your skin’s volume and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Read on to learn more about this revolutionary approach and its incredible benefits.

What is Biostimulation Therapy for Skin?

Biostimulators are compounds injected into the skin to trigger the body’s natural healing response, promoting tissue repair and growth and helping restore volume to the skin. These are injected into the skin’s inner layer called the dermis and work to boost collagen production, rejuvenating skin structure and minimising wrinkles.

These compounds are administered via very thin needles and work gradually to restore lost collagen over several treatments. The results are visible after a few sessions and can last as long as two years, resulting in a subtle reduction in facial wrinkles and folds over a span of a couple of months post-treatment.

Which Areas Can Biostimulator Injections Treat?

Some of the areas that can be treated with biostimulation injections include:

  • Cheeks
  • Temples
  • Under-eye area
  • Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
  • Marionette lines
  • Jawline
  • Chin
  • Hands
  • Décolletage

Benefits of Biostimulator Injections

Biostimulation therapy offers many benefits, primarily regeneration and repair, through stimulating collagen and triggering the body’s healing mechanisms. Some other benefits include:

Stimulate Collagen Production

Biostimulator injections work by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production process. Collagen is an essential structural protein that provides strength, elasticity, and support to the skin. You can improve skin texture, firmness, and overall youthfulness by stimulating collagen production.

Reduce Wrinkles and Fine Lines

One of the primary benefits of biostimulator injections is their ability to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. These injections help plump lines and smooth out creases by increasing collagen levels for a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.

Restore Facial Volume

Biostimulator injections can also restore lost facial volume in areas where volume loss contributes to an aged or tired appearance. They help add volume to hollowed areas, such as the cheeks, temples, and under-eye area, to create a more lifted and youthful facial contour.

Improve Skin Elasticity

As collagen levels increase, skin elasticity improves, leading to tighter and firmer skin. Biostimulator injections can help address skin laxity and sagging, particularly in areas prone to volume loss and ageing, such as the jawline and neck.

Long-Lasting Results

While results may vary depending on the individual and the specific injection used, biostimulator injections improve skin quality and appearance. The effects can last several months to over a year or two, with maintenance treatments available to prolong the results further.

Minimally Invasive Treatment

Biostimulator injections are minimally invasive procedures that require little to no downtime. Patients can resume their regular activities immediately after treatment, making them a convenient option for people with busy lifestyles.

Customisable Treatment

Biostimulator injections can be customised to address each patient’s unique concerns and goals. Healthcare providers can tailor the treatment plan to target specific areas of concern, ensuring personalised and natural-looking results.

What Does the Procedure Involve?

Biostimulator is a TGA-approved injectable designed to replenish lost collagen, supporting cells and tissue gradually. Your treatment begins with an initial consultation to evaluate the condition of your skin and identify the areas of concern. The procedure begins with applying a numbing cream to ensure your comfort. Local anaesthetic is also mixed with the injection to minimise any pain. Then, the areas to be injected are marked. Once the numbing cream has taken effect, small amounts of the filler are injected into the skin. You might feel a slight stinging or pinching sensation during treatment. This is normal and quickly fades. There may be minor swelling or bruising after the procedure, which subsides a few days after treatment. A cold compress can be used to relieve tenderness and swelling.

Aftercare includes massaging the treated area for a few days to reduce nodule formation. Typically, three treatments are required a few weeks apart for optimal results. For maintenance, you can have booster treatments depending on your skin’s conditions and needs.

Biostimulator injections are not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women and people with bleeding disorders.
